HALVERSON, P.R.C ‘Ron’ Pictou Oct. 9, 1959 – Jan. 13, 2023 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ron, age 63 of Pictou, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Ron was the fifth of seven children born to George and Clara Halverson. He was born in Halifax and his family relocated to Pictou when he was a year old. Ron worked for many years at Scott Paper, SW Weeks, and most recently at GPF Tree Services. In years past, he loved to play golf and curl. One year he and his brother John made it to the Provincial Curling Championships. For several years he enjoyed playing darts with his friends at the Pictou Legion. Remembering Elder Ron Halvorsen Sr.

Evangelist Ron Halvorsen Sr., age 77, went to sleep in Jesus on Friday, May 15 at a hospital in the Orlando, Fla. area. He had been battling multiple myeloma since his diagnosis last fall.
Halvorsen was born in Brooklyn, New York to parents William and Adele Halversen. Involved for much of his early life in the gang scene there, neighborhood friend Jim Londis invited him to a Bible study and shared with him the love of Jesus. At 17 years of age, Halvorsen gave his heart to Jesus and was baptized.
While receiving his education at Atlantic Union College he met and married Carrol LaMountain. Upon completion of his seminary education, Halvorsen served as a pastor in Connecticut, Tennessee, Maryland, and Southwestern Adventist University in Texas. Elder Ronald T. Halverson, LDS general authority and Utah legislator, dies at age 80
OGDEN, Utah — Elder Ronald T. Halverson, 80, a plumbing contractor and former Utah legislator who served for eight years as an LDS Church general authoriy, passed away peacefully at home Friday, Feb. 24, 2017.
Elder Halverson, former president of Halverson Mechanical Inc., was sustained to the Second Quorum of the Seventy at April 1998 general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a counselor and president in the Pacific Islands Area presidency and later a counselor in the North America East Area presidency. He was released from the Seventy on Sept. 30, 2006.
Elder Halverson also served in the Utah House of Representatives from 1967 to 1978, then four years in the Senate. He was majority whip and majority leader in the House and was a strong advocate for then-Weber State College.
He also was chairman of the State Building Board.
