Doddarange Gowda is an Indian poet and a lyricist working in Kannada cinema.[1] He is a retired professor of Kannada and has published a number of anthologies. He has brought out several audio cassettes and CDs of his poems. Some of his noteworthy songs are Tera Yeri Ambaradaage and Notadaage Nageya Meeti of Parasangada Gendethimma , Nammoora Mandara Hoove of Aalemane , Sri Rama Bandavne of Paduvaaralli Pandavaru.[2] He was also a Bharatiya Janata Party MLC.[3] In 2018, he was awarded with the civilian award Padma Shri.[4]
Early life
Doddarange Gowda was born on 7 February 1946 to K. Range Gowda and Akkamma. He completed his B.A and M.A Honors from Bengaluru University.His wife Late. Rajeshwari Gowda a Kannada professor in BMS Degree college for Women.

Procession marks grand start to 86th literary meet in Karnataka

The 86th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana began with a grand cultural procession on Friday morning at 73 am. The procession started at Purasiddeshwar Temple with 100 folk troupes and Sammelana President, Prof. D. Doddarange Gowda, was taken out in a decorated chariot. However, he traveled in it for only a kilometer and then proceeded to the venue of the sammelana. Meanwhile, more than 80 folk troops performed in the procession later waving yellow and red flags. Thousands of people, including writers, artists, schoolchildren, officials, and folk troupes, walked along the decorated chariots and tableaux. The procession passed through the main landmarks of the city, including Mailar Mahadev Circle, Hosamani Siddappa Circle, and Old National Highway 48, before culminating at the venue.
