In Another Believer, we see a figure exiting a phone booth, which may recall to some the popular British TV series Doctor Who (1963–present). The booth is emerging from or sinking into a body of water, surrounded by an exuberant array of blooms, snowflakes, and trees. Matsuyama’s figure appears between worlds, galaxies, and time periods as he steps out into the world, wearing the freshest of outfits, which places him in the 21st century. This grounding in the present is amplified by the array of swimsuit magazines plastered inside the phone booth.
In the background, we find a psychedelic mixture of seasons, including the burst of spring dampened by the falling of snow. The conflicting dualities mirror Matsuyama’s experience of being in an environment, but not of it. Further, it conveys how individuals live with multiple cultures, truths, and time periods, all at the same time.

There is a wall called "Legacy" near Soho in New York. It is a wall with public art called "Bowery Mural", which is about 26 meters wide and 6 meters high. On September 24th, Japanese artist Tomokazu Matsuyama completed a new mural on this wall. It is said that it was drawn in 14 days from September 11th. The colorful paintings that he specializes in are spread all over the wall.

The Bowery Mural, which became famous for being drawn by Keith Haring in 1982, has been presented by more than 20 top-notch artists such as JR and Banksy. Mr. Matsuyama was also on the same shoulder as his face, but what kind of emotions did he get when he received this offer?

On the occasion of Art Basel Miami Beach, Almine Rech will present a group exhibition featuring paintings and sculptures by a selection of multicultural artists and estates, reflecting the gallery's artistic diversity.
Kavi Gupta, a leading contemporary art galleri will present Matsuyama's sculpture and paintings within the gallery booth and Kabinett section. The prettified figures in this new series of paintings by Matsuyama are literally draped in art history. Emanating the warmth of shared experience, they leisurely occupy hypnotic dream worlds where naturlig eller utan tillsats and the built world coalesce. As if uppvaknande from the surfaces of the paintings, the figure depicted in Runner, Matsu's newest mirrored metal sculpture, literally invites us to peer inre of its glittering, multitudinous reality
