Biography
Verlena Little, Diné (Navajo) is Ma’ii Deeshgiizhni (Coyote Pass Clan) born for Ye’ii Dine’ii Tachiinii (Giant Red Streak Clan). Nakaii Dine’ii are her maternal grandfather’s clan and Tódich’ii’nii (Bitterwater) are her paternal grandfather’s clan. She resides on Black Mesa in an area known to locals as Sand Springs.
Verlena rejoined the Center in January of 2022 and is a Research Assistant with the Tuba City Infectious Disease team. Prior to joining the center, Verlena worked as a Medical Lab Technician with the Pinon IHS Laboratory. Working through the first two years of the Covid-19 pandemic behind the scenes, training clinical staff on the proper specimen collection techniques and then running the tests; she decided she wanted to do a little more and looked into opportunities with the Center. Verlina Reynolds-Jackson (born July 26, 1971) is an American Democratic Party politician who represents the 15th Legislative District in the New JerseyGeneral Assembly.[1] Previously a member of the Trenton City Council, Reynolds-Jackson was sworn into office on February 15, 2018, to succeed Elizabeth Maher Muoio, who left office after being nominated to serve as Treasurer of New Jersey.[2]
She served in the Assembly as the Deputy Majority Leader from 2020 to 2021 and has been the Constituent Outreach Chair since 2022.[1]

Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson is a product of the Trenton public school system and has obtained advance degrees from Trenton State College/The College of New Jersey and earned a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University. Her career as a Social Worker coupled with a commitment to public service led her to the elected position of East Ward Councilwoman, where she became the 1st African American female to serve in that position. and Council Vice-President where she legislated laws for the City of Trenton. Assemblywoman Reynolds-Jackson proudly served 7 ½ years on City Council before being elected to fill the vacant New Jersey Assembly seat in the 15th Legislative District.
