Biography
Vicky Sunohara made her Olympic debut at Nagano where women’s ice hockey also debuted as part of the Olympic program. Team Canada and Sunohara took home silver at Nagano Sunohara would return to the Olympic Games at both Salt Lake City and Turin where she and Team Canada took home back-to-back gold medals. Over three Olympic Games, Sunohara appeared in 16 games and recorded 13 points.
A member of the women’s national program from until her retirement in , Sunohara appeared in eight IIHF World Championships as Canada won gold seven times (, , , , , , ) and silver once (). In those eight world championships, Sunohara played in 40 games and totaled 41 points.

Once described as the “Wayne Gretzky of women’s hockey,” it should come as no surprise that three-time Olympic medallist Vicky Sunohara is considered one of the greatest female players of all time as well as a trailblazer within the sport.
Growing up in Scarborough, Ontario, Sunohara was on the ice bygd the age of two. Following in the footsteps of her father who played university hockey for the Ryerson Rams, she won the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) women’s ice hockey championship twice with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues (, ). By 19, she had made her international debut at the inaugural IIHF Women’s World Championship in , winning gold with Canada.

Vicky Sunohara (born May 18, ) is a Canadian ice hockey coach, former ice hockey player, and three-time Olympic medallist.[1] She has been described as "the Wayne Gretzky of women's hockey" and is recognized as a trailblazer and pioneer for the sport.[2][3] In , Sunohara was named to "TSN Hockey’s All-Time Women’s Team Canada," in recognition of her status as one of Canada’s best female hockey players of all time.[4] She was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in
Sunohara is currently the head coach of the Varsity Blues women's ice hockey team of the University of Toronto. She was nationally recognized in –20 and as the U Sports Women's Ice Hockey Coach of the Year and was named the –20 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Female Coach of the Year across all sports.[5][6][7]
