Shreve, Lamb, and Harmon, founded as Shreve & Lamb, was an architectural firm best known for designing the Empire State Building, the tallest building in the world at the time of its completion in The firm was prominent in the proliferation of Art Deco architecture in New York City.
History
[edit]The firm was founded in as Shreve & Lamb, a partnership of Richmond Harold ("R.H.") Shreve, a Canadian from Nova Scotia, and William F. Lamb, from Brooklyn, New York. Shreve was the administrator, while Lamb was the architect. The two met while working at Carrère & Hastings, and Shreve & Lamb was initially a Carrère & Hastings firm. In the pair decided to leave Carrère & Hastings and became an autonomous architectural company.[1]

Arthur Loomis Harmon (July 13, – October 17, ) was an American architect. He is most famous as the design partner of the firm Shreve, Lamb and Harmon.
Biography
[edit]He was born in Chicago in [1] and graduated from Columbia University's School of Architecture in [2] From to , he practiced with the architectural firm of McKim, Mead & White. Later, he partnered with the firm of Wallis & Goodwillie before joining Shreve and Lamb to form Shreve, Lamb & Harmon. He was elected into the National Academy of Design as an Associate member

Biography
Studied in the Art Institute in Chicago, graduating in An architect with the firm of Shreve and Lamb, later Shreve, Lamb and Harmon, he helped design several of NY's finest buildings and was given some of the credit for the Empire State Building as he was working in the office of Shreve and Lamb at the time of its design. He was also involved in construction work for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in , and designed several battle monuments in France.
