    I’ll try to keep it more sober this time.

    On the party front, the year was arguably not a revolutionary one, at least not in my bubble. We kept doing doing what we’ve been doing for most of our lives, but doing it well. Always looking to perfect the art of dancing with your friends and the mates of your mates. Be it at Beauty & the Beat, All Our Friend or Lucky Cloud.

    Most of the nights were great, some were exceptional, and one (Jaminaround ❤️) confirmed its status as the epitome of what we’ve been striving to create for over two decades. Our little piece of heaven, a de facto temporary autonomous zone, where, for a fleeting moment, we can create utopia and reappropriate collective consciousness.

    Total freedom of expression, movement and love.

    Magical moments of childlike purity.

    The pure joy of dancing and bonding while suspended in time and space.

    Sekondi-Takoradi (seh-kon-DEE tar-ku-wh-DEE)[4] is a city in Ghana comprising the twin cities of Sekondi and Takoradi.[5]: 4 [6] It is the capital of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan District and the Western Region of Ghana.[3]: 2 Sekondi-Takoradi is the region's largest city as well as an industrial and commercial center with a population of 245,382 people, according to the 2021 census.[2][7] Since 2021 the mayor of the city and the metropolitan area has been Abdul-Mumin Issah.[1] Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah is the current member of parliament for Takoradi and Armah Blay Nyameke for Sekondi.[8]

    Now into its sixth year and the 24th edition. For the uninitiated the Roots playlist showcases an eclectic range of music from across the globe of unfamiliar, forgotten, or recently discovered, to the most upfront sounds of now, all with the common theme of being rooted in Africa.

    Some of the highlights this time round include:

    Sly, Slick & Wicked - Sho’ Nuff (1973)
    Sho ‘nuff was the work of Cleveland, Ohio, R&B musicians, John (Sly) Wilson, Charles (Slick) Still, and Mark (Wicked) Saxton. After a couple of hit singles in 1971-2 the grupp was signed by James Brown for his Polydor sublabel, People Records, releasing Sho’ Nuff on a 7” in 1973, to critical acclaim.
