    MIM MLA’s son booked for extortion as police get anonymous audio files

    HYDERABAD: Day after south zone police summoned Charminar AIMIM MLA Mumtaz Khan’s son Imtiyaz Khan for questioning in a 2021 case, police said that he, along with another local AIMIM leader Gulam Khader Jeelani alias Mannan, have been booked for threatening and extortion. In a separate FIR, Mannan has also been charged for using abusive language against the victim, amounting to outraging the modesty of a woman.
    Both the cases were registered suo motu by the cops, sources said, adding that they started a probe in the matter after receiving audio recordings from an anonymous source, involving Imtiyaz and Mannan.Hyderabad police have now appealed to people to come forward to share information about the duo in case they too were victims of their alleged offence.

    MIM leader in trouble over remarks on Mahatma Gandhi

    HYDERABAD: A local BJP leader on Friday filed a police complaint against Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (MIM) legislator Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri's for his remarks about Mahatma Gandhi's statue inside the state assembly.
    "The Nizams built the state assembly building in Hyderabad, but see what has happened. They have installed a statue of Mahatma Gandhi there. Who constructed it and who has been installed there," Quadri, who represents Charminar in the assembly, told a gathering in Karimanagar district's Jagityal town on Thursday.
    He said "we" have built all significant structures in India. "What have you done?” he asked. "We constructed Red Fort, Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, Mecca Masjid and Charminar. What have you constructed in Hindustan?”
