D. Jadhav was born in Goleshwar village, a small village on the banks of the Krishna River in Karad taluka.
He did his schooling in Tilak High School in Karad between 1940-47. Since his grandfather, Nanasaheb, was an excellent wrestler, Khashaba grew up in a household that breathed and lived wrestling. During his school days, he achieved success in sports like weightlifting, swimming, running, gymnastics and Malkhamb apart from wrestling.

Marathi cinema's ace filmmaker Nagraj Manjulewho is well-known for his blockbuster films like 'Fandry' and 'Sairat', has announced a biopic on Indian freestyle wrestler Khashaba Jadhav which is titled 'Khashaba'.
Today, the filmmaker took to his Instagram handle to share a first-look poster of the film and wrote, "It is a matter of great joy for me that I get to do a film on the life of the very talented wrestler Khashaba Jadhav, who has written the name of India and Maharashtra in Olympic history.Khashaba will be my third Marathi film that I am directing after Fandry, Sairat."
